I admire women who can be tough with a big smile on their faces and show none of their anger or frustration during an argument. It’s not a skill I ever mastered, but she can do it.
Imagine how smart and calm and sane she’d sound next to Trump.
I haven’t made up my mind yet about who I’ll support in the primary. I’m in South Carolina, so I don’t have much time.
Even harder is not knowing whether I believe we have our best chance nominating a moderate or at least someone who seems like a moderate or a someone more liberal who can fire people up. I really don’t know. After Trump, I don’t think I know anything about how politics work.
But I could be very happy with Klobuchar.
To me, she comes off as that totally together mom you saw at your kids’ school. She worked full-time outside the home in a demanding job, yet never forgot a lunchbox or a field trip permission slip. Her kids’ homework got done, and their clothes always looked neat and clean. So did their hair. You could tell they didn’t just roll out of bed late and barely have time to gulp down breakfast and brush their hair.
She still found time to volunteer at school, and if you were having a bake sale or a party, she never forgot to send in cupcakes. She moved through life with energy and a smile, and she raised kids who were polite, whose homework always got done and was never left at home.
You bet her house was cleaner and neater than yours, and her kids had chores and did them.
You looked at her and thought, “She has it so together,” and mourned the fact that you did not. (Some of my bad Catholic School Mom might be showing here.)
Anyway, I think she seems pleasant, but she’s tough. Non-threatening to the Republicans and Independents who are sick of Trump.
I think she’ll get a lot of Joe Biden’s support, now that he’s tanking badly. I liked her early in the campaign and wondered why she never got any traction, but now she has.
If you want to donate to her campaign, here’s her Act Blue page.
Here’s a long list of her policy positions.
I’m in South Carolina, and I don’t recall hearing from anyone with her campaign or getting any mailers from her. I have heard from Warren, Buttigieg, Yang and Tom Steyer. You wouldn’t believe how many mailers I’ve gotten from Steyer. Months and months of mailers, now coming multiple times a week. Seen commercials on TV for Bernie, Warren, Yang, Steyer and Bloomberg.
Anyway, I suspect she has some work to do to get organized in South Carolina.
