Nine people attending a weekend conference at a Boston Marriott have so far tested positive for the Coronavirus, and 60 more were sent for testing Friday night.
Two Boston hospitals set up temporary facilities outside for testing employees of the international biotech company Biogen, with based in Cambridge, Ma., according to the Boston Globe.
Biogen held the conference Feb. 26 and 27 at the 400-room Marriott Long Wharf in downtown Boston for 175 of its executives, including its CEO, CFO and head of research, Stat News reported.
Biogen has directed those attending to self-quarantine and other employees in Massachusetts, North Carolina and Switzerland to work at home, the Globe said.
It’s hard to imagine how many people might have been exposed, from hotel employees, other hotel guests and conference attendees, workers at restaurants and bars in the area outside the hotel. All those people’s families.
Easier to imagine that at some point, Americans will start to panic as more and more people are diagnosed in their own communities.
